Have your say on Medically Unexplained Symptoms to help shape and improve services!

25 January, 2018 by Andy

Do you or someone you care for have experience of Medically Unexplained Symptoms? (MUS) – We would like to invite you to attend a focus group that will look at the current provision of support.

Coventry AIMHS and Carers Trust Heart of England are hosting a Co-production MUS focus group on Monday the 26th of February, which will be held at Vicroft Community Rooms in Coventry City Centre between 1pm and 3pm.

What is a Medically Unexplained Symptom? Many people suffer from persistent physical complaints, such as dizziness or pain, that don’t appear to have an obvious medical cause.

These are sometimes termed ‘medically unexplained symptoms’ when they last for more than a few weeks, but doctors cannot find any disease or problem with the body that may be the cause.

Diagnosis for certain patterns of Medically Unexplained Symptoms include:

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome
• Fibromyalgia
• Non-epileptic attack disorder

What will we be asking you in the Workshop?

• What is working well and understanding what needs to change?
• We will discuss what ideas clinicians have scoped on how we can deliver change in our area.
• We will explore what ideas we think could improve the treatment of MUS.
• Following the workshop – within six to eight weeks you will receive a written summary of ‘you said – we did’.
How can I attend the Workshop?

Spaces on the workshop are very limited. If you are interested in taking part please give us a call on 02476 670 606 to reserve your place.

Vicroft Court is located Opposite Argos /Ikea at the lower end of the shopping precinct in Coventry City Centre. (17 Queen Victoria Road – CV1 3JB).
